Practicing What We Preach: A Roundtable Discussion on How to Practice Technology Law @ Home
It is fair to say that ITechLaw’s membership has advised tens of thousands of clients on legal aspects of utilizing technology. Suddenly the means by how we advise – our work processes – have changed inviting personal innovation and creativity. Today, as we all work from our homes, ITechLaw embraces “We are all in this together” and asked four of our technology lawyer members to share their thoughts on how to best utilize technology to team with colleagues, advise clients and manage the new work/life family balance. Whether you work in-house, in a large or small law firm environment, we hope we can all share new ideas that maximize collaboration and the substantive practice of law.
The panel aspires not only to share their own tips and experiences but also will be inviting you online utilizing the chat and polling features to comment on other ways you are adapting to Work From Home. Eugene Weitz is currently Managing Counsel with DXC Technology’s Managed Legal Solutions providing strategic guidance regarding global cybersecurity and digital transformation. Prior to DXC, Eugene practiced Data Protection at DLA Piper as an independent attorney. Eugene also has served as General Counsel, Americas at SAI Global, Deputy General Counsel at Computer Sciences Corporation, Alcatel Lucent and Atos as General Counsel, responsible for North American and Asia-Pacific.
Melissa Maalouf, ZwillGen, United States
Melissa Maalouf (CIPP/US; CIPP/EU) is a Shareholder at ZwillGen PLLC, and focuses on representing clients in a wide range of privacy, security, advertising, and e-commerce matters through counseling, responding to regulatory investigations, and analyzing risks associated with corporate transactions. In addition to providing regular guidance on the complex web of U.S. state and federal privacy laws such as the CCPA, Melissa also works closely with clients to develop and implement compliance strategies, commensurate with their size and international footprint, that align with global privacy laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). She also advises on global e-commerce issues such as consumer disclosures in e-commerce flows, auto-renewal subscription regulations, and electronic signature laws.

Michael Peeters is a Partner with UK law firm, DAC Beachcroft LLP, where he heads up a 300 person office as well as the TechLaw team for the North of England. He has over 25 years’ experience, much of which is international, in a wide variety of technology law areas. He is a recognized figure in the technology law arena with top listings in legal directories for at least the last 15 years. He regularly speaks at international conferences on cutting edge subjects in the area.
